Everything about standing up to corporate influence rings true to me, but I believe Bernie Sanders has vocalized many times what few Democrats will: they fear the repercussions of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission and the ease with which money can guide the electorate. I would posit that some Democrats actually see it as a net positive: schmooze up big business for a more reliable ticket. Not that it matters when the GOP has shown themselves to be far more pliable.
