GitHub Copilot coding agent now allows repository admins to configure which validation tools run automatically when the agent writes code. By default, the agent runs tests, linters, CodeQL, GitHub Advisory Database checks, secret scanning, and Copilot code review — all free and without requiring a GitHub Advanced Security license. Admins can now disable specific checks (e.g., slow CodeQL analysis) via the Copilot > Coding agent section in repository settings.
