Computer Science fundamentals are still important.

That is in my opinion why a computer science degree is still appreciated by anyone hiring.
In a good university, they won’t just teach you to code, but will also teach you the fundamentals that half the industry is built on, letting you pick up on more complicated subjects easier.

Interestingly, In Australia, we have aspects of the ‘pure Comp Sci’ such as search and sort algorithms as part of the Australian Qualification Framework ITC Diploma units.
This would equate to some content from the first year of a bachelor’s degree in Australia.
Good to know that the TAFE that I teach at includes at least one unit of competency with this form of fundamental.
