The Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) has launched a formal response to Bambu Lab's AGPLv3 license violations in its 3D printer software. Bambu has failed to release source code for its modifications to an AGPLv3-licensed slicer program and threatened developer Paweł Jarczak, who created a fork of Orca Slicer to enable interoperability with Bambu printers. In response, the SFC created the 'baltobu' project to reverse-engineer and reimplement Bambu's code, host the Orca Slicer fork, and pursue a long-term strategy to improve software right-to-repair for 3D printer users.
