Linux 7.0 merges compiler-driven static analysis for locking context checking using LLVM Clang 22. This replaces Sparse context analysis, which produced over 5,200 false positives on allmodconfig builds while finding only 3 actual bugs in 3 years. The new Clang approach enables checking subsystem-by-subsystem with a zero-warnings baseline by default, aiming for better maintainability and more aggressive bug detection with fewer false positives.
