Community Champion Spotlight: Jason Lee — Zed's Blog

Jason Lee, a contributor since February 2024, has merged 115 pull requests into the Zed editor repository, with a focus on gpui — Zed's GPU-powered UI framework. His company Longbridge, a Singapore-based brokerage, chose gpui to rewrite their Electron desktop client (Longbridge Pro) due to performance issues. While building the app, Jason contributed improvements back upstream including linear gradient support, tab focus support, and numerous bug fixes. He also created gpui-component, an open-source component library for gpui that provides buttons, checkboxes, editors, panels, and more — filling a gap since gpui ships with no components. The Longbridge Pro app built with this stack is now live and visually impressive.
