as general rule I always recommend to NEVER work harder than your peers, always underdeliver for when you want a promotion and give your normal 100% the managers/teachers are like “WOW you got potential kid!”

I’ve heard about people purposely not doing their job too well, so this doesn’t happen.
There was also a saying that companies cannot afford to loose people in their current position by promoting them if that person is doing too good of a job.
