I still remember getting out of my chair before 7PM, someone would joke about working “part time”… (Independent of at what time did one arrive)

THIS IS THE CATCH, NO COMPANY WILL MENTION,

Been there a some years ago in Brazil.
I used to arrive a couple minutes late a few times a week (1-10 min 2-3 times a week) due to issues with commuting (had to get 3 buses to arrive there), but would stay at least 30 minutes more at the end of the day, every single day.
In my 4th month in, the HR lady came to me with the clock records saying they would deduct that time from my salary, as that was summing up to 1 hour a month. I then asked her, pointing at the same sheet she was showing me when I was late, that I was also leaving late every day and that I wasn’t getting paid extra for that time and she said they can only consider the extra time if it goes beyond 1 hour.
Funny how they can count the minutes I arrive late, but when it comes to considering the extra time they can only consider full hours.
I told her she can deduct that from my pay, no stress, then never stayed more than 1 or 2 minutes extra (just enough to turn off the computer and get my stuff). I switched jobs next month.

Even though I come to the office regularly by 9:30 AM and usually leave around 6:45 PM, it still feels like people think I’m leaving early. No one notices when I stay back 1–2 extra hours because of tasks or dependencies — and still come in early the next day. Also, some people who come in late are seen as hardworking just because they leave late, even though they actually start late
