The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an investigation into Adobe's early cancellation fees on its 'annual billed monthly' subscription plans. Under Adobe's current terms, customers who cancel after the 14-day window are charged 50% of the remaining yearly cost, with access only until the end of that billing month. The CMA will examine whether these terms are unfair and whether customers receive adequate upfront disclosure. Adobe is the ninth company investigated under the CMA's direct consumer enforcement powers, which allow fines of up to 10% of global turnover. The CMA has not yet reached conclusions on whether Adobe has broken the law.
