Developed over two months with significant AI agent assistance, EmDash is serverless, scales to zero, and is architected with AI-native features including a built-in MCP server and Agent Skills for converting WordPress themes and plugins. Security improvements include sandboxed plugins with defined permissions and passkey-based authentication. However, it currently lacks a plugin ecosystem, community, and full self-hosting support for sandboxed plugins. A WordPress migration tool exists but only imports content, meaning PHP-based themes and plugins must be rewritten. Yoast SEO creator Joost de Valk is an early supporter, noting its AI-agent-friendly architecture.
