Cloudflare introduced Code Orange: Fail Small, a resilience initiative to prevent large-scale outages after two major incidents in late 2025. The plan mandates phased configuration rollouts using Health Mediated Deployment processes, improved failure-mode handling to prevent cascading failures, and streamlined emergency response procedures. By Q1 2026, all production systems will use enhanced deployment processes with staged validations and automatic rollbacks. The initiative addresses risks from rapid global configuration propagation that caused widespread disruptions affecting major platforms like LinkedIn, Zoom, and Shopify.
