On March 21, 2025, multiple Cloudflare services, including R2 object storage, experienced an elevated rate of errors due to human error during a credential rotation process. The incident lasted for 1 hour and 7 minutes, causing 100% failure in write operations and approximately 35% failure in read operations for R2 globally. The issue was resolved by deploying the correct credentials to the production environment. No data was lost or corrupted. Cloudflare has implemented measures to prevent future incidents of this nature.
