Cloudflare built its own WordPress

Cloudflare released EmDash, an open-source TypeScript CMS built with Astro that they call a spiritual successor to WordPress. Key differentiators include sandboxed plugins running in V8 isolates with declared permissions, AI-native features like a built-in MCP server and Agent Skills, and serverless-first architecture. WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg criticized it as a vehicle to sell Cloudflare services, while acknowledging some features like Agent Skills are worth copying.
