Claude Code’s internal source was recently leaked due to a packaging mistake, exposing ~500K lines of TypeScript via a source map file.
Soon after, the developer community jumped in — and instead of just mirroring the leaked code (which got hit by DMCA takedowns), someone created Claw Code — a clean-room rewrite of the architecture.

an independent Python + Rust reimplementation inspired by the leaked Claude Code design, built from scratch without copying any proprietary code.
It doesn’t contain the original source — instead, it recreates the system’s architecture (agent tools, query engine, orchestration, etc.), making it a legit open-source alternative.

I think a company that does not care about copyright does not deserve to have it extended to them, so i think they are reaping what they sowed, but this also goes to show how important it is that we get an update to copyright laws regarding clean room implementations because software has become the wild west nowadays.

I feel bad for the developer who misconfigured things so that the source maps are deployed.
