Circular design illustrated through four products

Cisco outlines how circular design principles are applied across four product lines: UCS-X servers, Webex Room Bar, Desk Phone 9800 Series, and Nexus 9332D-H2R Switch. Each product demonstrates sustainability practices including use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics, modular and repairable architectures, reduced packaging waste, and energy-saving features. UCS-X servers use roughly 50% less raw material over three generations and incorporate 77% PCR resin in plastic parts. The Desk Phone 9800 features a sustainability dashboard for real-time GHG emissions tracking and a deep sleep mode reducing power to 0.3 watts. Cisco aims to apply Circular Design Principles to 100% of new products and packaging in FY26, with updated criteria focusing on recycled materials, hazardous material removal, and product-specific evaluation.
