Ethereum's Checkpoint #9 provides a status update on two upcoming protocol upgrades. Glamsterdam is in active development with devnets underway, featuring ePBS (encrypted Proposer-Builder Separation), Block-level Access Lists, gas repricings, and a likely increase to maximum contract size (EIP-7954). A first generalized Glamsterdam devnet is targeted for the near term, pending ePBS stabilization. The following upgrade, Hegotá, has selected FOCIL (EIP-7805) as its consensus layer headliner, while Account Abstraction (EIP-8141) was moved to Considered for Inclusion due to lack of consensus on implementation. Quantum resistance is gaining interest but lacks a standalone proposal. Gas limit testing is ongoing with a 60M baseline target. New EIP Champion's Handbook resources have been published to help contributors navigate the proposal process.
