A hardware hacker has exploited the CGA card's continuous character ROM clocking — which occurs even at screen edges — by pairing the ROM with a Raspberry Pi Pico 2. This setup uses the ROM clock as a sync signal to inject arbitrary pixel data, enabling 60 Hz high-resolution graphics in text mode with 1-bit color depth. The text layer remains intact since the ROM is still present, producing results like a bouncing DVD logo screensaver on a DOS PC. A PCB design is in progress.
