CERN has been selected to host the next phase of Open Research Europe (ORE), a European Commission-backed open access publishing platform. The new platform, built on Open Journal Systems (OJS), will expand authorship eligibility to researchers from a consortium of European countries including Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and others. Publishing remains free for all eligible authors. ORE uses a publish–review–curate model where articles are openly peer-reviewed and curated into subject collections. Since its 2021 launch, ORE has published over 1,200 articles from more than 6,300 authors across 3,000 institutions. CERN brings expertise from running Zenodo, Invenio, and SCOAP3 to this role, providing neutral and sustainable infrastructure while governance stays with the ORE consortium.
