Canva has simultaneously acquired two companies founded by Australian brothers Chris and Mike Sharkey: Simtheory, an agentic AI collaboration platform, and Ortto, a customer data and marketing automation platform. Simtheory will bolster Canva's AI infrastructure, enabling enterprise-grade AI assistants with business context awareness. Ortto, which has over 11,000 customers across 190 countries, will feed into Canva Grow, Canva's marketing product. Both founders will join Canva in leadership roles. The deals are part of a broader acquisition spree and precede what Canva calls the biggest transformation in its history, to be previewed at Canva Create on April 16.
