Canonical is shutting down Ubuntu Pastebin on May 31, 2026, after 18 years of service. The text-sharing tool, available at paste.ubuntu.com and pastebin.ubuntu.com, is being decommissioned as part of an infrastructure modernization effort. Originally launched to prevent IRC support channels from being flooded with terminal output, the service was never intended for permanent archival. Users with saved pastes should log into their Ubuntu One accounts to back up any important data before the shutdown. Alternatives include GitHub Gist, PrivateBin, and Debian Pastebin.
