Canonical has released an experimental Ubuntu 26.04 LTS concept image for the CIX P1, an Armv9 SoC found in single-board computers like the Radxa Orion O6 and Orange Pi 6 Plus. The image ships with a Linux 7.0 kernel using only open-source drivers and uses ACPI (rather than Device Tree) to allow a single image to work across all supported CIX P1 devices. The CIX P1 features a 12-core Armv9 chip on TSMC's 6nm process with an Arm Immortalis G720 GPU and a 30 TOPS NPU. The image is experimental, not officially supported, and is intended to gather community testing and feedback. It has been tested on several devices including the Radxa Orion O6N and Orange Pi 6 Plus, and is available for download from Canonical's Ubuntu Concept image server.
