Canonical will integrate and distribute the NVIDIA DOCA-OFED networking driver stack directly into Ubuntu's repositories. DOCA-OFED is a high-performance networking stack used in AI factories and HPC clusters, enabling RDMA, GPUDirect, low-latency transfers, and high throughput for LLM training and distributed simulations. Previously, admins had to manage these drivers through external installers or manual builds, causing kernel mismatch and version conflict issues. With this integration, installation becomes a single apt command, lifecycle management is simplified, and deployments become more predictable. This follows a similar recent announcement about distributing the NVIDIA CUDA toolkit in Ubuntu.
