I’m self taught, in a year I landed a job as a junior frontend developer, now growing to be full stack dev inside the company. Believe in yourself and you will get what you’re working towards! 🙏❤️

Honest? From me the answer is no… at least not if that is your entire training. If you have another adjacent skill set and you are adding coding then it’s a discussion? But there are no shortcuts. Go. To. School. If your resume shows up on my desk with nothing but some online bootcamp and high-school I’ll bin it unread. Honest truth. There are too many side skills that school teaches you that you won’t have. It doesn’t need to be a 4 year computer science degree but it does need to be a 2-3 year Business Information Systems (or similar) diploma. (I actually prefer that over a 4+ year comp science degree.) You need the rigour of outside examination and skills confirmation, you need group projects, communications, business skills like some accounting (teaches you how money moves in a company, invoices, purchase orders, inventory systems, list management). You need to be able to write documentation and emails in the full, business version of the language AND understand business language to develop requirements, it’s not always clear. It’s not the direct coding… maybe you’ll have that, it’s assembling those skills together into a business software developer that I need… and you are NOT going to get that from YouTube.
Now… if you have a base 2 year diploma (or more) and you’re using online courses to add additional skills and expand what you have, new languages etc. then yes! As a matter of fact, one of my big interview questions is what are you learning now… doesn’t have to be IT related but I expect that everyone in IT is continuously learning, curious, building something, have a side project, learn IOT, AI, whatever. I have switched my ‘core’ language maybe 4-5 times over my career, you will as well. I want people that are ready to do that and who have the business acumen to have an intelligent discussion about what clients want… and what they really need.

Probably was true up to 2years ago, now the market is so full of newbies that basically is like winning lottery :(
