CAMM2 is set to replace traditional DIMM and SODIMM RAM form factors across PCs. While DDR6 will mandate CAMM2 on desktops, laptops have already adopted LPCAMM2 for LPDDR5x memory since 2024, with models like the Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 and Dell Pro Max 16 Plus leading the way. Desktop adoption of CAMM2 is expected to lag significantly, with DDR6 pricing potentially reaching $500 for a 32GB module and mass availability unlikely before 2028–2030. In the near term, DDR5 DIMMs will remain the desktop standard, and DDR4 is even seeing a resurgence due to DDR5 price spikes.
