Bun's creator Jarred Sumner merged a 1-million-line PR porting Bun's codebase from Zig to Rust just six days after opening an experimental branch, largely driven by persistent memory leaks and crashes that Zig's tooling couldn't easily address. The port is considered viable due to Bun's extensive Node.js compatibility test suite, the shared LLVM backend between Zig and Rust, and heavy use of AI-assisted coding. The newsletter also covers a roundup of developer links including GitHub Actions release automation, RSC server functions, token pricing trends, and several new open source tools.
