An experimental autonomous agent built using Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Agents successfully migrated a SQL Server database to Snowflake through natural language commands. The agent handled schema conversion, data loading, validation, and self-correction by querying Snowflake documentation when encountering errors. Using External Access Integrations for secure RDS connectivity and Cortex Knowledge Extensions for RAG-based self-healing, the system demonstrates how AI agents can automate tedious data engineering tasks. While suitable for simple migrations, complex enterprise scenarios still require robust ELT frameworks and orchestration tools.
