Building a more resilient, multi-region Bitbucket Cloud

Atlassian is restructuring Bitbucket Cloud's architecture to support multi-region deployments, with two primary goals: improving scalability and resiliency, and enabling data residency for EU customers by end of 2026 and India by June 2027. Key changes include dropping support for cross-workspace forks effective July 1, 2026, and permanently removing cross-workspace REST API endpoints on March 31, 2026. The new architecture will improve customer isolation, reduce noisy-neighbor issues, and allow source code and repository data to be stored in specific regions outside the US.
