Benchmarks comparing Btrfs filesystem performance across Linux kernel versions from 6.12 LTS through the current Linux 7.0 development state reveal regressions. Testing was conducted on an AMD EPYC 9745 server with a Solidigm D7-PS1010 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, using Ubuntu 26.04 with default Btrfs mount options including copy-on-write. This follows a prior comparison of EXT4 and XFS across the same kernel range.
