MIT appointed Brian Hedden as co-associate dean of the Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing (SERC), joining Nikos Trichakis in leading the initiative. Hedden, a professor in Linguistics and Philosophy with expertise in epistemology, decision theory, and AI ethics, will advance SERC's programs including the Scholars Program, case studies, curricular materials, and seed grants supporting ethical technology development. SERC, launched in 2020, aims to cultivate responsible practices among computing technology creators and deployers.
