BMW has revealed the facelifted 2027 i7 electric sedan featuring Gen6 cylindrical cells (4695 format) manufactured by Croatian firm rimac Technology, boosting usable capacity to 112.5 kWh and targeting 350+ miles EPA range. The new battery enables 250 kW DC fast charging (up from 195 kW), with a 10-80% charge in 28 minutes. The powertrain also gains rare-earth-free excited synchronous motors with silicon carbide inverters, claiming a 20% efficiency improvement. BMW dropped its Level 3 Personal pilot autonomous system entirely due to low demand, replacing it with the cheaper Level 2 'symbiotic Drive' at roughly $1,700 versus the previous $7,000. The interior is overhauled with panoramic Vision, an 8K Theatre Screen, and BMW's Operating System X. Production begins in July at dingolfing. The i7 is positioned as a bridge product until BMW's purpose-built neue klasse platform arrives with 800V architecture and 400 kW charging.
