Blue Energy, a nuclear startup, has raised $380 million to build grid-scale light water reactors using shipyard manufacturing rather than on-site construction. CEO Jake Jurewicz draws inspiration from Venture Global's LNG terminal construction approach, which cut project schedules in half. By prefabricating reactor components in shipyards and transporting them via barge, Blue Energy aims to reduce construction costs and timelines — the core challenge facing nuclear power today. The company's first project is a 1.5 GW plant in Texas slated to begin construction later this year. The round was led by VXI Capital with participation from At One Ventures, Engine Ventures, and Tamarack Global.
