This combined effort encompasses over 500 staff members, including software engineers, designers, artists, QA testers, producers, and customer support staff.
The unionization, recognized by Microsoft, highlights the employees’ collective push for protections around layoffs, remote work security, and wage equity. Concerns motivating this movement include mass departures due to layoffs, low pay, and contentious return-to-office policies. This development adds to the growing number of unionized employees under the CWA at Microsoft-owned studios, which now totals nearly 3,000, including over 1,900 within various Blizzard divisions.
