Being a Software Engineer for over 20 years, it is great to see some posts, videos, blogs about experience, comparing previous computing trends with present day ones and highlighting the fact that the underpinning has not changed.
Most others focus on the latest trend or technology to hit the internet.
I recall having to learn the OSI Model / ISO Network Stack and when I mention it to developers now they have no idea what I am on about.
For any skill, learn the basics, understand the concepts and principles, don’t just learn the language, framework or application. Get to understand the inner workings and you will find that you can reuse that information far more and in different fields.
