A non-developer built BenzUp, a gas price tracking web app for Italian drivers, without writing any code. Inspired by the Guinndex project (an AI-powered Guinness price map of Ireland), the author used Claude Sonnet to generate ~750 lines of HTML/CSS/JS in one shot, deployed it on Netlify with a serverless function to fetch open government fuel price data, and added PWA features via Google's Jules agent. The app went from idea to production in under a week, attracted 800 visits in three days, and cost nothing. The author reflects on how AI has lowered the barrier between idea and working product, while acknowledging that real engineering skills remain essential for scalable, secure systems.
