On August 5, 2024, from 18:22 to 19:49 UTC, a code bug in Azure Front Door (AFD) caused connection issues, impacting Azure DevOps, Azure Virtual Desktop, and some Microsoft 365 services. The incident was mitigated by rolling back the configuration change. Microsoft plans to enhance validation processes, improve retry logic, and invest in automated fallbacks to prevent similar issues. Customers can mitigate such impacts by following Azure resiliency guidelines and configuring Service Health alerts.
