AWS Outposts racks now support two new CloudWatch metrics — VifConnectionStatus and VifBgpSessionState — in AWS GovCloud (US-East) and (US-West) Regions. These metrics enable direct monitoring of Local Gateway and Service Link Virtual Interface connectivity within the CloudWatch console, eliminating the need for external networking tools. VifConnectionStatus reports whether a VIF is operational (1) or not (0), while VifBgpSessionState tracks the BGP session state from IDLE (1) to ESTABLISHED (6). Users can leverage these metrics to set alarms and troubleshoot on-premises connectivity issues.
