AWS Network Load Balancer now supports the removal of Availability Zones (AZs). This capability allows customers to manage their application stack locations more dynamically, accommodating changing business needs such as mergers, data residency compliance, and capacity considerations. The process involves updating the list of enabled subnets and is available through the ELB API, CLI, or Console. Removing an AZ is a disruptive operation that terminates active connections and releases zonal resources. Detailed guidance is available in AWS documentation and blog posts.
