AWS has launched eighth-generation EC2 R8i and R8i-flex instances powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, offering up to 15% better price performance and 20% higher performance than previous generations. These memory-optimized instances feature 2.5x more memory throughput and 4.6x larger L3 cache, designed for memory-intensive workloads like real-time data processing and AI applications. R8i instances scale up to 384 vCPUs and 3TB memory, while R8i-flex provides smaller configurations. The instances are SAP certified and utilize sixth-generation AWS Nitro Cards for enhanced network bandwidth.
