AWS has launched Agent Registry in public preview as part of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, offering enterprises a centralized catalog to discover, govern, and reuse AI agents, tools, MCP servers, and agent skills. The registry supports both MCP and A2A protocols, indexes agents regardless of where they run (AWS, other clouds, or on-premises), and includes an approval workflow, versioning, and hybrid keyword/semantic search. Early adopters include Southwest Airlines and Zuora. Known limitations include degraded semantic search for non-English queries and record status resetting to DRAFT on any update. Competing solutions exist from Microsoft (Entra/Azure Agent Registry) and Google Cloud, but AWS differentiates with provider-agnostic indexing and native dual-protocol support. The roadmap includes automatic agent indexing on deploy, cross-registry federation, and integration with observability data.
