AWS has released a developer preview of the Durable Execution SDK for Java, enabling developers to build resilient multi-step applications using Lambda durable functions. The SDK supports Java 17+ and provides automatic progress checkpointing, execution pausing for up to a year while waiting on external events, steps for progress tracking, waits for suspension, and durable futures for callback-based workflows. On-demand functions are not billed for duration while paused.
