Both series utilize custom Intel Xeon 6 processors and showcase improved performance metrics compared to their predecessors. The R8i series, optimized for demanding workloads like real-time data processing and AI applications, demonstrates up to 15% better price performance and 20% higher computing performance. It also boasts 2.5x greater memory throughput and a significant increase in L3 cache size. These instances can scale massively, supporting up to 384 vCPUs and 3TB of memory, and are SAP certified. Additionally, the R8i series leverages sixth-generation AWS Nitro Cards to advance network bandwidth capabilities.
Meanwhile, the M8i and M8i-Flex instances are flexible, general-purpose options that offer improved performance metrics, such as 15% better price performance and a 20% rise in overall performance over the earlier M7i series. These models provide increased memory bandwidth, with the M8i supporting up to 384 vCPUs and 1.5TB of memory. The M8i-Flex is tailored for cost efficiency, presenting a modest 5% price performance improvement. These instances are suitable for a diverse array of applications, including web services, databases, microservices, and various enterprise workloads.
