AWS IAM has doubled several key resource quotas to help customers scale their AWS environments. Roles per account, customer managed policies per account, and instance profiles per account all increased from 5,000 to 10,000. Managed policies per role went from 20 to 25, role trust policy length doubled from 4,096 to 8,192 characters, and OpenID Connect providers per account jumped from 100 to 700. These changes address common scaling bottlenecks. Quota increases can be requested via the Service Quotas console for commercial regions, or through AWS Support for GovCloud and China regions.
