AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) has reduced the maximum validity period for public certificates from 395 days to 198 days, effective immediately, to comply with the CA/Browser Forum mandate requiring certificates to be no longer than 200 days starting March 15, 2026. No customer action is required — all new and renewed certificates will automatically use the 198-day validity. Existing 395-day certificates remain valid until renewal or expiry, at which point they will renew with the new 198-day period. ACM will continue auto-renewing certificates, now 45 days before expiry (60 days for existing 395-day certs). Pricing for exportable public certificates has also been reduced: per-domain cost drops from $15 to $7, and wildcard names from $149 to $79.
