Automatic emergency braking is now required for all vehicle manufacturers by 2029, aiming to prevent deaths and injuries. The new rule requires a more robust version of the technology that can stop vehicles at higher speeds and detect vulnerable road users. However, current AEB systems have limitations in preventing certain types of crashes and are less effective at faster speeds.

I get what they are trying to do and why. However, my main concern with this is technical glitches…
For example, when I’m backing up in my vehicle sometimes the sensors thinks there is an object in the way but it’s completely clear.
Now imagine this new feature they are proposing and something similar happens. Instead of kicking off at 90 MPH, it’s 35 MPH and no one is in front but you have many drivers behind you.
Scary, but too early to tell. But it’s a hard no for me.
