Audible has launched a new 'Standard' subscription plan at $8.99/month, $6 cheaper than its existing Premium plan at $14.95/month. The Standard plan includes one audiobook per month from Audible's catalog and unlimited listening from a curated library including Audible Originals, but subscribers lose access to audiobooks upon cancellation. The plan also bundles access to nearly 200 popular Wondery+ titles. Available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, and France, the move is seen as a direct response to growing competition from Spotify, which has seen 36% growth in audiobook listeners and recently raised its own subscription prices.
