Atari has acquired emulation studio Implicit Conversions for an undisclosed sum. The deal includes the studio's proprietary Syrup emulation engine, which supports 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit game emulation on modern consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Implicit Conversions has already ported over 100 classic titles including Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Rayman. The acquisition adds to Atari's growing suite of preservation tools alongside the Bakesale Engine (Digital Eclipse) and Kex Engine (Nightdive), reinforcing the company's strategy to become a leading retro game preservationist publisher.
