The tech job market has fundamentally shifted, making it significantly harder for junior developers to land their first role. The traditional path of getting hired despite being underqualified no longer exists due to oversupply of candidates, reduced hiring budgets, and AI tools reducing the need for junior-level work. Success now requires building genuine trust through public work, engaging meaningfully with the developer community, and developing real problem-solving skills rather than relying on AI tools. Junior developers must focus on demonstrating care for the craft, asking thoughtful questions, and showing continuous improvement rather than just applying to hundreds of jobs.

I think that the opportunity is there if you want to start your journey as a developer.
The competition might be bigger and stronger, but there are also more tools available for learning faster and better.
The concept stays the same. Hard work beats all.

The only reason its hard to find a job in america is because they are all outsourced to India and other countries all over the world. LinkedIn america will show you no job postings however if you search other countries there will be 100000s of job postings for american companies! Dont be fooled. They are lying! Still many jobs but they just outsource them more and more nowadays.

Theo is such a hype-bro. GPT-5, React, Now this sonic model. Sam Altman recently has been quoted saying “Next OpenAI CEO Could Be AI”. CEOs are just as at risk as everyone else. Its always been hard to get a job as a Junior. Especially, now-a-days you come out of CS thinking that React is so amazing, but they have less than 5% marketshare and it has a connectivity dependency.

I was fortunate to start my career right after graduating in 2019, just as COVID hit. As everything shifted online, the demand for programmers surged with many companies moving to remote work. This also brought a wave of new talent into the industry, which meant more opportunities—but also a added lot more competition in todays time.
