AppLovin has laid off 97 employees, including the CEO of its subsidiary studio Machine Zone. This follows several other rounds of layoffs since June 2022, impacting a total of 120 jobs in November 2024 and 126 in October 2024. Machine Zone, known for games like Game of War: Fire Age and Mobile Strike, has seen significant staff reductions and role eliminations, including its CTO and design director. Despite the layoffs, AppLovin is actively recruiting for new positions. Other companies in the gaming industry, such as Freejam and Ubisoft, have also announced significant job cuts in early 2025.
