I will never spend thousands of dollars on a system that I am unable to upgrade the memory on. I like what is happening with the ARM chips, I don’t mind the tortured and half hearted OpenBSD fork even if some elements of that UI are just frankly stupid (window menus in the top bar what trash) but saying you can’t even guarantee your obnoxiously named “geniuses” cannot solder ram on the mainboard without potentially breaking the stupid thing and charging an absurd premium for all 32GBs I would want is too much anti-end-user behavior to trust you and the developers you employee enough to spend thousands more than a Thinkpad/ProBook/Dell Whatever that has RAM slots, can easily have Linux replace whatever trash Windows is now after turning safeboot off and using the flash drive with Ventoy installed I have right now. I cannot believe how people don’t mind being ripped off for some super fragile, paper thin machine with a 2 year service life.
Especially when there is nothing about macOS that I cannot effectively replicate using Linux, which is free. Plus most distros come with a package manager by default and need not torture themselves to get homebrew or Nix for Darwin to work in the walled garden that seems more likely to impede me than anything else.
