Apple released iOS/iPadOS updates (18.7.8 and 26.4.2) patching CVE-2026-28950, a bug where deleted notifications were unexpectedly retained in an internal database. The flaw was exploited by the FBI to forensically recover Signal message previews from a defendant's iPhone even after the app was deleted. Users are advised to update immediately and can also configure Signal to hide notification content as an additional privacy measure.
